St Apostles Peter and Paul and Trakai Castle.

In the afternoon of our Vilnius sightseeing, we visited the church of St Peter and Paul, this is a white marble church, sculptured from white marble dust, by an Italian sculptor, Pietro Perti in baroque style.
He created more than 2,000 pure white stucco religious depictions and figurines, adorning the interior of the church, which took over 30years, the church was commenced in 1701 and completed in 1704.
It looks busy, but the church inside is very big.

After our vist we drove the 45 mins to the village of Trakai.
Trakai Island castle is located in Trakai on an island in Lake Galve. the construction of the stone castle was begun in the 14th century by Ketutis and around 1409, major works were completed by his son, Vytautas the great who died in this castle in 1430.

Carved wooden symbol for the castle, this medieval castle is one of pride to the Lithuanian people.
This is where the soldiers used to exercise.
There used to be a moat around the castle.
This was how the castle used to look.
We climbed all the stairs to look into the rooms.
Trakai village is a lovely setting.
Houses in Trakai were originally owned by the kariem and the houses had three windows in the front, one for God, one for wealth and one for family.
