Wednesday, we departed Vilnius by private car to Latvia, Riga. Riga is 290ks from Vilnius. We will have our own guide and driver, who travelled from Riga, which takes 4 hours by road. We departed at 9am and will have a few stops on the way.
Andrea is our guide who speaks 4 languages and Livas who only speaks russian.
Most of the younger generation in Latvia, speak English, but the older generation only speak Russian.
After travelling for 2 1/2 hrs we stopped at the hill of a 100,000 crosses.
This is the explanation of how the hill came about.
We stop on one side and walk across the other to where the crosses are.
In the distance, crosses start from the road.
You can walk a staircase through the crosses.
These crosses are dedicated to the Armenians.
Before entering this sacred site, there are shops where you can buy crosses to place one of your own, a very interesting sight to vist.
Our next stop is Rundle Castle.
