Our Kruger adventure

Our four days in the Kruger National Park, fulfilled one of our lifelong dreams and that was to see the big five and enjoy these magnificent animals in their natural habitat.
Kruger National Park is a national treasure and defines South Africa’s psyche.
Established in 1898 to protect the wildlife of the Lowveld, today Kruger is a world leader in advanced environmental management.
Occupying two climatic zones and 16 distinct eco-zones, the park is home to an abundance of life forms, 336 tree species, 49 fish, 34 amphibians, 114 reptiles, 507 birds and 147 mammals.
The land is patrolled by the big five, water buffalo, rhinos, elephants, lion and leopard, what we did not know, until we arrived into this magical place is that there is a little five as well.
Buffalo weaver, elephant shrew, leopard tortoise and lion and rhino beetle.
There is also the birding big six, ground hornbill, kori bustard, lappet-faced vulture, martial eagle, peels fishing owl and saddle-billed stork.
We were lucky to see all of these birds, such magical colours.
This is a map, depicting the size of the park and in our four days we covered most of the marked areas and saw some beautiful sightings of animals, birds, trees, amazing sunrise and sunsets.

Our stay at Kruger was memorable and our accomodation at the Royal Kruger Lodge was amazing, rooms were very comfortable and the staff welcomed you like family.
Next we fly from Nelspruit to Johannesburg, to catch the Rovos Rail, where we will travel 1600kms to Victoria Falls.
